Re: Re: shimano tekota reels

check out the okuma CL300L or CL400L. They are very good reels and alot less money. Unles your fishing for tuna with these reels. My buddy caught a 22lb laker last summer at nubanisit on one of these reels with no problems. I have 2 of these and love them.

I did an extensive study on reels last winter, I bought and returned quite a few reels over rhe winter to check them out in my hand.

I ended up up-grading to Tekota 500's and Okuma Catalina's, both with line counters..

The 500's are fine for for our Lakes in NH. They are supposed to be one of the better reels out there for the money and the great Lakes guys (gals) swear by them, so I'm told.

Before you shell out 170.00, you might take a look at the Okuma Catalina, 99.00 (made for Cabelas, not avaialble from Okuma yet) To be honest with you, I can't make up my mind which I like better. Right now I would have to say the Catalina has a nicer, more positive drag adjustment, but I haven't caught any real fish of any size yet on either.

Can't go wrong with either one.
