Trolling Plate

Got the Easy Troller trolling plate and installed it on my 60hp, 4 stroke in about 20 minutes. C-clamped it in place, drilled 4, 1/4 inch holes thru the cavitation plate and bolted it on. Piece of cake, even for me...
Tried it this morning on the pond, worked great. Before installing the plate, the lowest GPS speed was about 2.2, this thing slowed us down to as low as .5 if we wanted it to. Mechanically, it performed perfectly. I purposely pushed the throttle with the plate down and the hinged plate flexed like its suppossed to, no broken pins or bent plates to worry about.
The problem now is that all my excuses for not catching fish are being eliminated one by one as we only boated 1 fish this morning. And no, I do not work for the Easy Troller company!
Good luck all,
Bob

Re: Trolling Plate

I am thinking I need one of these for my boat now. You are at least 1 fish ahead of me.

I was amazed at how slow I was not able to go once I put the gps in my boat. 2.5 mph for me. I guess heading into the wind I could fudge it?

Where did you get yours if you don't mind me askin?

Brian

Re: Re: Trolling Plate

Sure,I got it online from boatersoutlet.com
Cost $99.99 plus $12.00 shipping. About the cheapest price I could find without the wings/stabilizers. No change in performance with the plate up either.

Trolling Plate

Glad to hear your Easy Troller experience was as good as mine. And yeah to anyone worried about the installation, it was pretty **** simple. I did the same thing, using some clamps to hold the plate in place. Simple, and I'm not much of a gear head either. Gets my 90 HP Honda down to 0.5 mph from over 3 mph. Very smooth and stable. Glad to get rid of my 2 buckets AND a sock.
