fished the big lake the past couple days - did well thu pm ,1 decent bow ,bunch of shorts , one for the smoker. friday again a good day , another 5 shorts in the am - took northcountry dave out for a wet n windy ride fri pm ,3 more shorts and his prederby keeper. threw back 2 white perch - one a pound+1/2 , the other pushing the records over 3 A MONSTA !! . still think twice about that throwback !?
the rest of the weekend a wash ! got soaked sat am +pm with NO fish on !! hard to stay at it pouring buckets ! gave up sunday am - back on the couch.
surface temps 52 thu - 48 today , all salmon down 20-30 ft on dark db's and gold n orange hardware . unable to hit the laker hole all weekend due to the 3 surf and stiff breeze .
all in all a good trip - great to have dave in the boat and see him catch a fish !
Was out there Fri. eve also. Fun fishing in that wind wasn't it! Fishing 8 lines especially. Hard fishing the boards but got a couple off them. Got in a real cluster while making a turn and hitting doubles on it. One of the fish was a MONSTA!! (we thought) After about half an hour of clearing lines, both fishing and boards, got out the big net and landed the soooo anticipated trophy, only to discover a 21" salmon and about 2 colors of lead. Oh well! It was exciting for a while. Oh yeah, the other half of the double was a 15" rat. Only a couple of other
shorts and a few long realeases.
I would have eaten those white perch. Three + was not a record, but I bet it would be concidered a trophy.
