cleaning lures

have some tarnish building on a couple of lures, any ideas on best way to clean without leaving odors or ruining finishes, thanks, Phil

Re: cleaning lures

the best thing I've found id # 7 chrome polish you can find it at a hardware store in a silver greyish can.

Thanks, Phil

Re: cleaning lures

Toothpaste, believe it or not, has been my secret for shining up the lures. It works great and you should already have some on hand!

Re: Re: cleaning lures

Alan, over at A.J.'s Bait and Tackle showed me the same trick with the chrome polish, If he say's it works I beleive him!!!!! Take Care God Bless and Tight Lines DAve!!!

Re: cleaning lures

Depending on the color / finish, you may NOT want to clean it up. By example, a top performing lure for trout / salmon in Moosehead is copper -- but apparently older, "tarnished" copper lures work even better (a guide told me this and showed me his as proof). I actually took hooks a split rings off a couple of my copper lures and have been letting them sit outside to "tarnish."
