put the new trolling plate on this weekend, 4.25 pound male salmon and a 4.75 pound female.sebago lake. not a lot of action, but the fish are big this year on average. new plate works like a charm, should of done this years ago. hopefully will have a new kicker by the end of the summer for next season. thanks to whoever posted about this. dad with his first good one.
this will be my third summer on the lake, the salmon will get tougher to come by as they spread out with the warmer water. its real important to start early in the morning for them, when its still real dark out.the salmon fishing can be real slow. the lakers can be caught throughout the summer dragging lead core in 30 to 50 feet practically anywhere on the lake and especially on the hump. dont pass on the smallmouth fishery, it can be great in july. they are just starting into the rivers for the spawn right now.
im just past the marina on the north west river. boats name is DIRECT AMENDS. will be there over the long weekend and thru next week. no radio right now but hopefully will get the antena replaced this weekend. from what i saw last weekend, the salmon had moved into the crooked river after the rain. will probably start fishing in the mouth of that river, towards the muddy and just a little south of the spider island. weve had the best luck in those spots, however it has been slow. we have boated several salmon over 4 pounds this spring though. smelts, golden shiners and sutton # 5. the suttons have caught the most, with the smallest #5 and largest #72 being the 2 i use the most. havent figured out which colors work the best yet other than green db's and red/white topguns/flutterguns
Thanks for the info! We don't have a radio. We will be using lead core and down riggers, 3to 4 colors on lead ,15' on riggers ? Hope to see you out on the water.
