DB smelt Imposter's/Roemer release's

First I just want ot thank you guy's for the advice on roemer release's.I just bought one and its a pretty cool thing .I cant wait to check it out on Rangely in a couple weeks.
I dont know if this is new's to everyone, but on saturday I was at the Kittery Trading Post and I checked out the trolling lures and I saw the DB Smelt rip off its called a Speedy Smelt made by Acme. That didnt take long.I guess it just shows how well they work.
Tight lines and SCREAMING Drags to all!!

Re: DB smelt Imposter's/Roemer release's

Boy they better hope it's not an exact replica as the guy who invented holds the U.S. Patent on it. If you look on some of the older D.B. smelts you can see the us patent Number on it. Hopefully they were smart and didn't copy it exactly or else they could be facing some stiff fines!!!!!!!!! Take Care God Bless and Tight Lines Dave!!!

Oh no,
They didn't copy them exactly, the acme ones have bumps on them! lol

There also lighter and more flexible.

Had to happen eventually. Basic suply and demand issue.

So many dealers want to carry the original DB Smelt, including the KTP, but I'm told they either can't get them at all or else can't get a reliable supply because Mr. D.B. can't make them fast enough.

Re: DB smelt Imposter's/Roemer release's

I bought some Imposters: cheap knock-off, too light and they do not flicker at all at 2.0 mph.
