Champlain Day and a half

Lena and I fished Saturday and Sunday morning in the Plattsburg derby. The weather was terrible but the fishing was great. We boated 49 Lake trout; the biggest was 31 inches, 11.25 lbs. That fish was big enough to place fifth. Of the 49 fish caught all but 10 were between 7.5 and 9.5 lbs. Five of the other fish were over ten pounds. Yank N Crank were up fishing next to us and they were bringing in their share of large Lakers also. For those of you who are going up to the LCI, get ready big fish will be needed. Don't be surprise if someone land a Laker 14 or more pounds. Our best lures were the good Suttons and a gold orange Top-Gun. Fish were being caught in the 40 F.T.O. range. We were fishing north of Shelburne bay. Good luck.

Next time you go... if you notice a big bulge in your luggage and a "few" extra pounds... don't question it. Just load the luggage gently and be sure to let me out when you launch the boat...hehe. Sounds like a great time! I can't imagine catching that many big fish... consistently. Wow...

Re: Champlain Day and a half

Sounds like some great fish. And yes we all know Lena caught the biggest one!
Did you just fish for Lakers? I was wondering how the Salmon were hitting up there. We are going to LCI and will be going out of Point Bay Marina in Charlotte this year. Maybe we will be able to get you guys on radio this year.
Are you bouncing the bottom to catch those lakers?
Okay, enough questions for now and Good Luck to you in the LCI!

Re: Re: Champlain Day and a half

Hi Bob, we did not try for Salmon just Lakers. We were using copper line(yanking) and lead core 8-9 colors. Good luck and talk to you on the radio or cell.
