Last 2 times out on winni I was fishing between 20-25 ft down .I was only 25 feet off the ball caught 10 salmon and 3 lakers most on the red and white top gun.the general rule is the shallower your trolling the longer the setback .One advantage of a short setback is better depth control of your lure.I would run out a mooselook 100 feet off the ball a heavy lure like that could sink 5-10 feet below the ball who knows what the sink rate of any given lure is I've looked for tables that would tell you this have'nt found them yet.Fished newfound this morn caught 5 lakers all around 20 ft down 25 ft back.
