Re: Question about Fishfinder?

I would say, bad connction and/or low boat battety power, how old is the battery ?? but who the hell am I, I have more trouble with my fishfinders than anyone. Allthough it's been good lately, especialy since the Lowrance guy walked me through it while fishing, I even see all the fish everyones talking about now, and I mean lots of em..

Was your unit made in Canada Dave ?????????????????

Speaking of trolling plates, again. I found my gas consumption went way up after I put one in and I mean considerably and these days we are all watching this with the price of gas as it is. The one I had was fully automatic, I say was. I put a nylon cord on mine and have it fixed so when I want to lift it up, I raise my trim way up, attach the cord to a hook and lower the motor back down to lift the plate up, works better than I expected. The spring is super strong, I doubt the plate pushed it all the way up when the throttle was full or especially when part full. With the plate, I was adjusting the throttle to hold approximatley 2 mph when wanted, the engine ran about 1100/1200 rpm's, without the plate down it runs about 850 rpm's and holds 2 mph (give or take .3) pretty **** staedy, like it always did pre-plate days on my 115 4 Stroke Honda, not to mention dead quite again at full idle.

Gas consumption was unbelievably improved, I fished about 11/12 hours Friday and Saturday, with one or two long runs and used about 5 gallons (or less) or approximatley 1/4 tank on my boat, I would have easily used 1/2 a tank plus with the plate down 100% of the time. Just a thought on auto up and down plates, but when you want to go slower they do work the b----.

Re: Question about Fishfinder?

I have had that problem in the past and spoke with tech's who told me to do cold reboot of the machine which fixed the problem. Call your tech department for whoever makes your unit and I'm sure this is a quick fix.

Re: Question about Fishfinder?

what brand is it dave ? lowrance had a problem with the dual freq ducer -

how about interferance from ignition components (like those nice napa condensors )

is the transducer mounted behind a chine on the boat ? is it low enough ? lots of possibilities -- took me years to get it straight !!

Re: Re: Question about Fishfinder?

I think it's an antique, made in Canada, need I say more, LOL.

Actually I think it's an old Hummingbird, where are you Dave, all these guys are trying to help and all they found is me and I'm no help at all.
