Would anyone recommend a decent portable downrigger? the type that mounts via clamp to the back of the hull.

I like to fish for just about anything that swims with my boat and would like to fit my boat with something that can go on and come off easily.

scotty or cannon would be good choices. don't get a manual big jon, hard to use requires 2 hands and lots of attention.

here is the easiest 1 to use, 1 handed operation no hassles easy wind up 1 handed lever "brake equipped" ball lowering.

It is a scotty model 1050 masterpack includes everything in picture. If i had to get a clamp on manual this is the ONLY one i would buy. good luck!

Thanks for the info. I hadn't seen that one yet. I was actually looking at the 1050 and thinking of buying / making a mount so I can attach/detach it.

Great to see that they have this in a clamp on version of that model.
