also make sure lure is at same depth as crawler and opposite ends of the boat.

Jigging for salmon...yes it can be done...I'll 2nd what YoA says especially about a nightcrawler...sluggos type lures and rapala jigs (3.5) inch size silver also work.... it is actually alot of fun to catch salmon by jigging not drag from lead core or trolling lines.. I had a salmon pick a crawler off bottom in 50 ft of water and almost immediatley break the surface

Re: Re: Re: Re: Jigging for Salmon

Thank you guys you have helped me out alot. I guess it is easyier to jig for Lake trout from reading other postings. I think I will try to do a Charter with my grandson , son and soninlaw in the begining of August, I have never done it before I have been fishing for small mouth there for 29 years and have caught only a few salmon by accident, on Hellgramites while fishing for bass. I will be at Far Echo for 5 weeks starting this saturday, can you suggest a good charter for beginners? Thanks

Either of the two on this site... Travis or Adrien... They're both great guys. You'll learn a TON about salmon fishing from both and you'll have a great time doing it. Just go to the charter info on the left side of the page. You won't regret a day on the water with either of these guys!

you can also go with matty from hooked on salmon , just go to the links page for hooked on salmon charters . a great guide that will teach you alot and catch fish . "reel it in "

Jigging for Lakers is a blast...

Get yourself a spinning rod med light action 6'6". Spool her up with 10# Braid (your choice brand) Use a barrel swivel or blood knot to 8-6# Fluro leader. Than tie on your jig I like trying a few to see what they want... Sweedish pimple/Krippled Hearing or Soft plastics on a DART jig head Flukes, tubes ect..

There are plenty of good places to do this find a good drop off 40' to 100 plus and drive around when you mark a good pod of Lakers (on the edge of the drop) start jigging. You can set up your fish finder so that you can see your jig crank up your sensitivity. Jig above the fish untill you see one move up rip the lure away and wham! If you can't see your jig on the screen drop to the bottom and work your way up off bottom and repeat. You can crush them if you get into them!!!
