The RFPers; Salty and White Cap joined me on a lead core fishing safari on Joppa Falts.
The Flats were dead, only two stripers taken in three hours around high tide, only two other boats fishing the area. Trolled the north side of the river, nothing. Crossed over to the west side of PI, finally fish. Took about 30 stripers for the day, White Cap has the honor of the first, the largest (24”) and the last fish of the day, the hot lure was Black Slugo.
I saw a lot of boats out there last night & wondered how they were doing.
I dusted off the surf fishing gear & fished the PI side of the Merrimack River last night.
We caught 6 stripers in all. Biggest one was 22" caught by my girlfriend, Chris who continues her Lake Winni ways- of always catching the biggest fish!
Best bait was sand worms (not clams), best time close to midnight, (despite that the tide was low) & by then everyone had left but us.
We'll try again in a week or so.
All & all it was a beautiful night.
Don't rule out up stream from the launch at Cashman Park to Deer Island.
We have landed alot of fish there recently from keeper stripers to big channel cats and eels.
