Made it out on Newfound Saturday AM from 5:30-8:00. We got 6 lakers and 1 rainbow. We got 1 triple and 1 double. Fish came on a vertical retrieve - in that twice, the lower stacked downrigger was tripped and nothing was on. Then letting it rise, it was hit.
We fished the ledges until the beach opened, where we spent the day with our families. Never got out for a troll later...
Sunday I heard some folks on Ch. 69, Rock Bottom, Jiggin, Throbbin Rods, I tried talking but there must be an issue transmitting on my VHF, hopefully I'll have that worked out before this weekend. I may have to head back up for more of those big rainbows.
One other technique I used and forgot to mention was 300' of 20# Stranded Wire and a 50' 8# leader and trolling around 3mph. The rainbows liked it and even caught a couple of the lakers using it.
