took my ten yr old daughter w/me fishing this morning, launched at ames farm, fished dimond and rattlesnake. fishing was the best it has ever been for me in the 2 years since starting this type of fishing. 17 fish landed 8 lost, 5of the first 7 fish were lakers the rest were all salmon w/ only 2 runts.
best lures were the copper redhead smelt gun, pumpkin seed smelt gun, gold and flourecent orange top gun. fished early at 30' then 44-56'.the action was
crazy at times, alot of doubles, i even tried a "cheater " and caught a couple on the sliding line.
most fish were 16 - 20" and a couple longer (estimating) by far alot more larger fish than smaller.it was incredible i would set the lines and she would real them in, even had a couple of screamers, she liked those ones almost as much as the jumpers. i know the #'s are not historic but for me it was our best so far.
talked to adrien and Rock & Troll on the radio. anxious to read Adrien's report, he was busy today. like to say another thing about Adrien, great guy. he had his clients there and ready to go at the launch this morning and still came over and said hello. nice meeting you Adrien.
basically followed Travis's report from yesterday
and it worked for me today, my daughter never asked when are we going home!
i know it has been said here before and i will say it again, having guys like Travis, Adrien and all the guys that have been at it for a while, share their know how with us that are trying to get better makes fishing for us alot less frustrating and alot more enjoyable. thanks
hey rich
yes leadcore early, they got the lakers. then about 7:00 the down riggers from 44- 56. went to stacking one down rigger and using a "cheater" on the other.
all salmon off the downriggers.
good luck, hope you do well!
Well here comes my worst report ever. I have no idea how many fish we caught today. it was minimum of 25 but really i don't know. Best lures were gold, orange, and pumpkin head.
We started catching them at 6 am and kept catching them until after 8 so steady it was nuts. at 1 time all ten lines were out of the water because they all caught fish. I kept setting and they kept catching.
I had no real opportunity to work any structure today with any regularity the boat just trolled where it wanted too and we caught them.
My crew Was Jack Weeks, his son John, and his 3 sons 8,11,and 14. A tri-generational fish killing family of 5!
The picture shows right to left a 20.5in laker, a 18 in salmon, a 16 in rainbow, a 20.75in laker and a Beautiful 21' salmon. These are just barely a taste of the fish they boated today and like forry said a few of these boys ran some line. The 8 year old was on the rod when a big salmon made a 60 foot vertical dive and pinned his rod to the rail and just smoked him! we had some jumpers that cleared 12 or 14 feet across the back of the boat.
Awesome job ilucas, sounds like you had a blast!
As a fellow newbie, I also share your sentiments and am thankful to Travis, YO and the rest of the folks on this board for all their shared knowledge and camaraderie, (spell check)....
Good luck,
Bob
