Re: Hey Fishlessman

ive been running 20 pound mono down to a swivel with about 4-5 feet of 4 pound flouro. flourescent yellow ball with a 3.5 foot long davis spinner attached. first lure above and behind the last spinner with a roemer release. slider is a small swivel with about 5 or six feet of 4 pound flouro. the slider slides up and down the 20 pound mono. its something ive just tried a few weeks back and its working. db's seem to be the choice right now and the grey ghost top gun as well as small copper mooselooks. been starting about 35 feet at the ball just before dawn am down to about 70feet at 8am if the suns bright. hope this helps, still would like to find out the legality of this with two rods verse one, if you see a game warden in one of the shops ask him about it. the rule book says 2 lines, but under the hardware section it says single baited hook, flies, lures with lures being plural. what that means im not sure

Re: Re: Hey Fishlessman

Thanks alot, I will let you know if I find anything out.

Re: Re: Hey Fishlessman

fishlessman,

I use the Roemer release also. When a fish hits the "cheater" line, does it release the Roemer release? As I am sure you know, you can really "load" your rigger rod with this release and when you want to manually release your line, you need to give it quite a tug. For this reason I would not think that a fish hitting the "cheater" line would trigger a release?

Thanks,
hilltopper

Re: Re: Re: Hey Fishlessman

even a 10 inch salmon on the roemer releases, i have them set pretty light and like you said you can really crank down on the reel, but i have had no problems with this set up. one thing ive found with the release if you want it off the ball, is that you can release several yards of line off the reel, let the drag take it back, and you can get the roemer to release without reeling up the ball (this may have something to do with the drag on the 20 pound test as most dont go that heavy with the main line).
