Streamers

Sounds like allot of streamer/fly talk lateley, tis the season I suppose. Some people use them all year with great success, myself I'm kind of a Spring and fall user, maybe this weekend. However fishing two lines I'm limited, guess one of each.

Re: Streamers

just curious because I have the same issue with only being able to use 2 lines. I was wondering when trolling a streamer how it works without a dodger just trolling. Ive heard of people catching fish this way even without pumping the rod I dont understand how that would work without any action on the streamer. Seems to me a dodger or pumping would be better than just pulling it along.

Re: Re: Streamers

I guess they work well with Dodger, Flasher, Jigging boxes or all by it's lonesome.

My guess would be Jigging box with maybe a flasher in front of the fly.

This much I can tell you, last September with small, single streamers, Yellow Marvels #6,etc. with a flasher in front,we caught 3 over 5 pounds on those little flies, no jig box. Not sure, but I think guys use flashers and jig boxes togeher on the same line ?????????

Guess I'll run one streamer this weekend, if I get more action on it I'll run two, or vice versa ????

Re: Streamers

how fast do you normaly fish streamers if thats all you have out. most of my streamer trolling has been for bows and browns and i have not really given much thought for streamers for salmon. i usually fish those browns in a smaller boat that is not set up to monitor speed, but i suspect im trolling much faster, maybe a little over 3 mph for the browns and bows with streamers. do you maintain the 2.2 winni speed like with the lures or go faster, slower

Re: Re: Streamers

Myself, no expert, but I go the same as for most of my spoons, 1.7 to 2.2, works for me when they are biting, which is this weekend, starting Friday and up to Wednesday (new moon) of next week, I'm hoping ???
