My brother John and his wife Linda paid us a visit, and we spent the am. on the "Peggy C". Got a little windy out there but me managed to catch 6 salmon and 12 lakers. One runt salmon and 2 runt lakers but the rest were quality fish. The salmon averaged about 20" and the lakers about 21". This was Linda's first time fishing for salmon and lakers and she did great! The last salmon of the day jumped about 6 times once over 4" and she landed it. John's first fish was over 4#. A real fat 21" salmon. Flies took most of the fish. Only 2 or 3 came on hardware. The early bite was very good and they were 5 to 7 colors on lead, and about 35' on riggers. They both had a ball and it was great to see them.
I fished this am with my uncle who used to take me fishing when I was a boy. I haven't fished with him since high school (20 yrs or more) and was glad to get him out there today. Didn't do quite as well as Salty, but hit the lakers well and got one good salmon and a couple salmon rats.....My uncle was thrilled with a 12 fish morning and thought it was a great success. Salty, I think I trolled around in your wake for an hour or so this am. 19' Grady-White Tournament with a Navy Blue top. Hope we didn't crowd you but enjoyed watching that net come out every so often!!!
Salmon on copper Mooselook over blades and Coolwater Cruiser Top Gun, lots of lakers on Fishlander Wonderbread on lead (early bite), few fish on flies...6-8 colors on lead, 35' on the riggers. Tight lines to all.
Before light red and purple color, and red and white, after the sun came up pumpkin head fly was good. Also pink and white. Sorry, I wish I could remember the names of them.
Salmo, You didn't crowd me. There were quite a few boats out there but they didn't stay long. It got hard setting the downriggers in that nice breeze coming from the North. When we made one turn we had triples and one release on a rigger, which would have been quads but no fish on that one.
