Answer on Planer boards

There's a switch me answering a question !!!!!!!!!

A while back I asked a question about the pin that holds the reels on the planer board tower. The consensus was that it was to hold the reel on in the event the tensioner backed off.

Well after replacing the Planer reel line and re-assembling it without the pin it became obvious that the pin had a purpose. It holds the big flat washer in place so that it will not turn with the reel, the washer will now allow yoi to adjust the tension when it drags against the 3 little brass buttons on the reels when the reel turns..

Hope I made myself clear, at any rate if you look at your own you will see how the big washer being stationary helps set up a drag surface for the 3 brass buttons ride against.

By the way, I did put 130 pound test Mono on the reels, had a little problem tying a knot however so I used a crimping sleeve. 130# test was probably overkill, but I wanted it to be visable, it's also light green in color, looks sharp.
