Was out around Black Cat island today fishing with my uncle Donald.
In the coves and sheltered shores there was 9" of ice but in the center of the main gut there was 5" of good solid black.
Travis pointed us the way to his "SECRET WHITE PERCH SPOT" and apparently it is so secret that the white perch don't know where it is!!
We caught 6 lake trout on tip-ups with live smelt 3 feet above bottom in 32-40 feet of water. All trout were 19-20 in. long and all were released. We didn't jig.
It was a nasty blow out there for a few hours we sat in the bob house and listened to it howl but it was great to get out with my uncle.
Next sunday it's over to Winnisquam for White Perch in a not so secret spot that the fish actually know about!
I was up at shep browns today did you go out of that location?? I saw snowmobile tracks heading out on the lake on the far side of the marina where the marina island service is located.
