Every marina I have dealt with has taken a trade in on the purchase of a new motor. Typically they dont offer much $ for it, especially if it is older. I have good luck with Dover Marine in Dover NH if you are looking for a Mercury.

I have had good luck with posting on craigs list.You might find someone needing to trade for your motor there.
