hotmaps chip problems

Guys,

just want to let any of you that are planning on getting the 07 hotmaps for the Raymarine c series unit know that there is a software problem. After 2 trips to Newburyport and a trip to the Raymarine plant in Merrimack, they have admitted that there is a problem with the software.
I am not sure if the problem is with any other units. so before you send in your old chip for the rebate make sure that the new chip works with your unit.

I have passed along the info that i received.

Mike,
Check out the email below. The mystery deepens. But I wanted to keep you in the loop.
Appearantly now, it IS a Raymarine issue and they are working on a software upgrade to make the new chips work.
Based on that, I would recommend you NOT send in your old chip just yet. We don't know how long it will be before Raymarine produces the update and I wouldn't want you without a chip for the first part of the season.
I will give you any new info that I get.
Bill

Thanks Bill,
may i relay some of the info in my own words to the fishing site that i frequent? alot of guys are talking about getting the new version and if they send their old one in they will not have a map.
thanks,
mike

Mike,
please do pass it along to anyone...

Bill

Email to Raymarine

A customer of mine recently had his C80 up to Merrimack because the new Navionics E3 hotmap chip was crashing the system. It did the same to your machines.
Navionics says you are working on a software upgrade for this.
When can we expect the release of this SW update?

Response from Raymarine,

Raymarine only became aware of this issue within the last 48 hours (3 reports, including this one). We are expecting to receive from Navionics a shipment of '07 HotMaps cartography to investigate this issue and determine whether the C-Series software currently scheduled for release at the end of this month will address the problem.

Re: hotmaps chip problems

subject should have been Raymarine software problems, not hot maps chip problems

Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

I wonder if that is why Navionics has not released the Platnium chip for the Northeast yet?

Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

I ordered the same chip for my Lowrance LCX 104--
anyone have any feedback on that interface?

Re: Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

not sure about the lowrance, but I would try it out before sending the old one in for the rebate.

Re: hotmaps chip problems

ilucas, I am having the guy the you recommended put in my E120 next week. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

hey Bob,
that's great. you will not be disappointed, Bill is a great guy and very professional. he has stayed right with me on the navionics chip with Raymarine.
are you bringing the boat to his location or is he going mobile?

Re: Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

I am taking my boat down to him, providing I can get it out after this storm. he is supposed to work on it Thursday and Friday of next week. The week after Easter I am having another guy put on a TR-1 Gold on my kicker engine. I hope it works like they say. I can't wait to meet everyone at the gathering.

Re: Re: Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

Bob,
thats a big boat to pull. what are you pulling it with? have you been to his place yet? water street is very tight where he is, but they bring good size boats in and out of that boat brokerage that is in the same yard as him all the time.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 with a 5.9 commings diesel. It is rated for 15,000 lbs. I didn't want one that big, but they had 35 on the lot and made me a great deal. When I'm not hauling I get 22 miles per gallon. When I'm hauling I get 16. I am going to bring my boat this week on Wednesday afternoon.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

Thats great milage both ways. I have an 03 dodge 2500 hemi, 12 mpg - 8 mpg hauling the boat, ouch! $50.00 in gas round trip to winni.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

ilucas... I feel ya on that! I get about the same with my Chevy 2500. Sounds like I need to consider a diesel for my next truck. I could put up with the engine noise for the bonus mileage. LOL

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

I would wait on any new diesel trunks.2007 is the first year generation 1 low sulfer fuel.New low emission laws equals new ash burning filter systems.I want to see how these new systems hold up first.Thats my two cents.Polebreaker

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: hotmaps chip problems

i was hot for the 07 ford f350 6.0 diesel. (08 model has the new engine). 4 door lariet is 48-52k, mrsp. in this market you should be able to get 10-12k off sticker on a 50k truck. NOT FORD, best i could do was 37k on a 47k 2006.
i will wait.
