Re: Slow bite and the dreaded Spring lake turnover
For years you hear the old timers and young ones too, talk about the lake must have "turned over" when the bite slows. Nobody ever gave me an explanation I could understand fully, so I researched meself. That Google is a powerfull, powerfull tool, all sorts of interesting tid bits can be simply found and explained.
I hope that has had something to do with the wierd bite and that they will put the feed bag on soon.
I've seen it slow right down on Squam many times after a fast start, but never Winni. Every year and lake are different I suppose.

I guess you are directing your question to me, I only wrote what I read. I don't have a clue where we are in the turnover, I guess when they start biting real good or normal we are through with it.
Seeing allot of junk in the water, old leaves, branches, logs and general debris, are a good indication that the turn over has begun. How long it takes is anyones guess, but fishing has been slow on The Barge for a few weeks so I'm going to assume (hope) that we are about done with it.
