Fridy we pre fished out in front of Olcott from 1-9 miles from the river. The fishing was good and we landed salmon from 3-15 pounds, we had a pretty good tournament grade box of fish on our practice day.
Saturday we tried to repeat fridays success and didn't get a bite for 3.5 hours. We picked up and ran 14 miles to another area i like to fish. We went 9 for 13 on salmon in 3 hours of fishing and ran back 20 miles to port with a score that put us in 17th out of 47 pro boats,(we also beat out all 28 amateur boats in the tourny on saturday) so really 17 out of 75 boats was great. well within serious striking distance of the leaders. It turned out that saturday was very tough fishing for most but our move paid off big dividends against the other boats.
Sunday we went out and tried to repeat saturdays success and picked up 4 fish in the first couple hours and we stuck with our program until the end not landing another fish on sunday, we were hoping they would turn on around mid day again like they did the day before. They did not, and back in the areas we had practiced in the fish were on big time and people were boxing out with 12 fish all over the place. We finished around 40 out of 47 for the day.
When it was all tallied we came out in 32nd out of 47 pro boats. I am a bit disappointed but considering the competition level it wasn't a total nightmare. We did finish ahead of some very good local charter boats, so some consolation there. Back at it this weekend out of oak orchard, none of us have ever fished there before so this should be interesting to say the least.
