Re: Hummingbird 383c

I realize that. I thought I remember Travis saying something at the spring meeting that he jigs about 10 feet above a bait ball

Re: Hummingbird 383c

heres my thoughts on it, in spring if im trolling lures and flies im on top of the bait ball as everything is looking up. now if im trolling sewn smelt ill try to get a little under the bait ball because sewn bait looks like wounded fish dropping down to the bottm and theres fish down there waiting for just that. later in the year ill keep a big lure up high for salmon that may still be looking for those bigger YOY that were up on the surface just a few hours ago but disappeared back to the bottom. a salmon will swim up quickly a good distance towards the end of the season, ive caught them in august at 3 colors on big suttons at high noon in the sun in very warm water. if im fishing on those deep schools at 90 feet plus later in the year, definatly on top. so the answer is salmon look up, but where are they when they are looking. maybe i overthink this stuff
