Re: tough new boat cleaning rules at Quabbin Reservoir
wait until next spring when most who fish quabbin realize what a hassle the new cleaning regulations create for them... an then they will realize that they are going to fish only quabbin or spent alot of time and money getting there boats recleaned if they take the boat to another lake and then want to go back to quabbin.
Re: tough new boat cleaning rules at Quabbin Reservoir
I know you need an intact seal but if you plan on only fishing the Q and nowhere else, you will need a cleaning before every trip as I assume when you launch they break the seal.
So even those only fishing the Q will have to get a fresh cleaning prior to launching.
Oh and if you get cleaned and decide before you go to the Q, that you want to put in somewhere else, will the seal be broken? I assume it is a seal that connects the boat to the trailer...
Re: tough new boat cleaning rules at Quabbin Reservoir
when you are done fishing for the day you have to stop at the check-in shack and they put on another plastic strap connecting from boat to trailer, so when you go again you must have plastic strap connected showing that boat has not been off trailer. if strap is broken you arn't launching, you must go an have it cleaned again some other day by appointment at there sites, i live 1 hours drive each way... nuts !!
been fishing at quabbin 8 - 10 times a year for years but looks like i am done.
Re: tough new boat cleaning rules at Quabbin Reservoir
Thanks - that makes sense. I would expect in the next 10 years that this type of system will be deployed at more places. I am not sure if I am for or against it. It is sure limiting but I feel this inconvenince will be a necessity. Seeing the massive millfoil blooms in Turtletown Pond in Concord and the Didymo spreads in northern NH, there is no doubt that fisheries can be greatly impacted in the next 10 years. For these proven issues, it seems the fisherman does not have much of a voice if there is proof of ecosystem damage or other locations that have suffered. Get ready for more than less of this type of waterbody control - imho.
