Re: opinions please

The Hummingbird models are pretty sweet, Paugus bay has them and usually has a demo unit that shows all the features, If I had the $$$ I would be buying one of the nice ones with the side imaging. I also know Charlies Charters really likes his combo unit as well, just can't recall what brand it is???????? Take Care God Bless LOL Dave

Northstar M-84 Multifunction unit, Easy to use and very powerfull Go to the boat show in Boston this Febuary and demo all units and get the feel of what works and what is confusing to use. This is how I made my decision. Very exspensive but I refuse to put junk in my boat after having issue after issue with another brand that is very popular. Good luck

Gps,sonar,fuel managment, radar

Re: opinions please

Thanks to all for your imput I wont buy anything until spring that gives me all winter to research. Thanks BARRY

Re: opinions please

Bought the HDS-5 with the Navonics maps last August. I really like it. Found it quite easy to use. I also got the LGC 4000 GPS antenna they recommended for it cause I have a T-top on my boat. Funny thing is I haven't installed it yet because the GPS works fine under my top. I've also been reading about the new LSS-1 StructureScan module that will be coming out soon that will attach to it. I went back and forth between this unit and the Hummingbird with the structural scan. Decided on this one because the last couple of finders I had were Hummingbirds and I didn't have much luck with them holding up. So decided to give another company a try. So far I'm very pleased with it.

Re: opinions please

This guy is selling an almost new Lowrance 520C (combo unit) for $450....I think it's between 7-800 new. If I had the money I'd be jumping on it as my 68C is acting flukey (might be that the transducer needs replacement)

I have the Lowrance 520c and have had no problems at all. I find Transducers are the main problem with most units, so I run two ducers and a switch box for 5 years now. Seems I go through a ducer every season, but I was told Ping adjustment can cause that, stay with factory setting, if you do raise it, be sure to put it back where it was from the factory.

I'd make the guy an offer he can't refuse.
