MEREDITH – Ticket sales for the 31st annual Great Rotary Fishing Derby, which will be held on the last weekend of the month, are running far ahead of last year's pace.
"We're up 20 to 25 percent over where we were at this time last year," said Rob Wichland of the Meredith Rotary Club, chairman of the 2010 derby.
The ice-fishing derby, which awards its top prizes for the largest tagged rainbow trout landed, sells between 5,000 and 6,000 tickets each year and is one of the top fundraising events in the state.
How many times do you think this will happen on Winni, and other Salmon lakes throughout the state during the derby??
