what is everyone thinking for the top ice out salmon spot this year?? are we thinking by welch and daimond again or elsewhere? also what does everyone usually run for speeds and depth for the first part of the season? and best lures? i know the db smelts hit hard last year

sorry this site is now closed to information for the reason that the salmon size and population is in trouble. YOU HAVE TO GET OUT AND FISH AND FIND THE FISH FOR YOURSELF !

Ha,ha,ha, I know I'll be fishing the North end when it opens, until then Alton Bay and open water on the south end can be good. But be carefull as the ice moves allot and can trap your boat, keep an eye out for big ice flows.

I saw the Barge breaking ice out on Winni. a few years back making channels for the smaller boats ...

The way the ice is going out now....April 1st will be complete ice out for fishing anywhere on Winni.

I should not say that too loud they may change open fishing until June 1st !

i was thinking more like april 7th for complete ice out!
