My first coldwater trip on Champlain did not disapoint!!
Only caught 1 salmon from 5:30-9:30. Then at 10:30 we found some warmer water and the fish. Went 10-13 on browns and salmon. Also caught a 28" Northern and a 27" Muskie, my first ever!! Off the water by 2:30.
Those are fat healthy fish, nice job, must be a great fishery if you can get those results first time on the lake.
Meanwhile back in NH, Squam gods are giving up more skunks than fish and the ones caught so far aint nothing to brag about, nothing like yours, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.
The Champlain Site indicates that you outdid all of the local fishermen? You had better offer them your secret or they will ask you to go back to Winni.
The picture looks like three browns and one salmon.
Am I right? Sometimes I have trouble telling when they get that big and healthy.

I have to know!! What speed were you trolling at.
Inland Sea locals always seem to pass me at double my trolling speed? But , I have always caught fish there.

Thanks,
A month from now I will be fishing that same water for smallmouth and pike. The salmon and browns will be back out in 80'-100' off the Cowbanks. Last year we picked up salmon in 15' of water north of Keeler Bay.
I think they were chasing insects. The bigger fish seem to stay down 30' in 80' of water.
15 feet of water? As I recall, we were chasing salmon up into less than 5 feet of water just like we'd seen on the flats in front of Ames farm last year! That change in pattern with the salmon might have popped up as a connection with the salmon numbers this year except for the fact that we were seeing the same thing with the Champlain salmon.
Butcher,
Congrats on some nice fish. It's also real nice to see the muskies show up once in a while too.
