william douglas of nithsdale

I am looking for information concerning the year and death of William of Nithsdale (in Danzig) around 1391.

William was with the Teutoinc knights around Danzig (Gdansk).

Also near that time around Vilnius was Henry Bolinbroke (later Henry IV) and possibly as part of his entourage maybe Thomams Clifford.

Is it credible that Clifford went all the way to Danzig to settle a single combat challenge?

I have seen different comments on Williams death, who by and how.

There is I understand a possible record of William being in Dumfries in 1402 collecting rents/taxes.

Can anyone point me in a research direction please.

thank you

Re: william douglas of nithsdale

I am not familiar with the rent collection of 1402, but have a note that rents were collected in 1392 - not necessarily by the man himself. In fact, it would be unusual for a superior to do that.

I will give this query a wider distribution to see what turns up.

Re: william douglas of nithsdale

thank you for the response, I understand what you say about the rent/tax collections.
Anything that might me is much appreciated.
