There is a plan to close the Sea Lawns Hotel and build a block of flats.
The Sea Lawns is the last remaining pub in Ogmore by Sea - it is also the only restaurant (apart from the Tempus Fugit cafe)and the only hotel.
It has a fantastic location near the centre of the village with great views - probably the only pub on the Heritage Coast with such good sea views.
This seems to me to be an enormous loss for the village and its visitors - and the Heritage Coast.
Back in 1905 Sea Lawns was a private house belonging to the Booker family. My mother's father worked for the Bookers'as a chaffeur. His name was John OWEN.A house came with the job. It was one of only 3 houses on the sea frount. Now situated in Slon lane. The house was called "Slon"-a shortening on Sea Lawn.I have photos of that time and remember many happy trips there as a child in the early fifties. The house still stands in Slon lane.If you want to try to save Sea Lawns, you need as much public support as you can get.Good luck.
