My sweet Marsha has cancer.

I am writing to request help for my cat, Marsha. She stopped eating her food right before Memorial Day Weekend. She continued to nibble on her treats and was still at least occasionally drinking water and was still using her litter box. She was losing weight but was still herself and happy. I took her to the vet on Saturday, May 26, and he gave her fluids and an antibiotic. She slowly lost her appetite completely and stopped eating her treats as well. We then began force feeding her. Finally it was determined by X-ray last Thursday, June 7, that she has a mass. Yesterday she had an ultrasound and needle aspirate which detected many tumors in the small and large intestines, an enlarged spleen, and evidence that there may be cancer in her lymph nodes. Lab results coming back tomorrow, Fri 6/15, will confirm if it is in fact lymphoma, but it looks pretty evident right now. I’m told they cannot do surgery because they cannot remove so much from such a small creature. So is there any way you think Reiki can help her?? I am desperate to save her. I have never killed an animal. I am uncomfortable with euthanasia, but I do not want her to starve to death or suffer in pain.

I am a Christian and have asked for prayer from others and have been praying myself. She’s been declining rapidly in the past week. She is very sick and will not let me hold her. Everyone is advising euthanasia which I have never been comfortable with. I’m begging God not to take her and to let this be something treatable. I am not ok telling them to kill her. I know this sounds horribly ridiculous to those with children or who have suffered the loss of a spouse or close loved one. Most people don’t understand how I feel about her. She is more than just a cat to me. I am devastated that I may be forced to make an unthinkable choice. She was a rescue I adopted 10 years ago, and I suspect she suffered some abuse in her past because she is so fearful of people. We have built an incredible bond. She took a long time, but she grew to trust me. She even learned just weeks before getting so sick to jump in my lap and then suddenly get up and stand with her paws on my shoulders and HUG me! She trusts me. How could I ever tell them to kill her? I feel I’d be betraying her. Please pray she can be helped. If you can help, please let me know. Thank you.
