Re: My Canton story 1952 ++++
I was born on Canton Island, January 30, 1953. My dad worked for the CAA as an overseas radio operator. He ran a little AM radio station and drove an old Jeep around the island. My grandmother was Dr. Dan Kittridge's nurse for a time. My brothers attended school there. We had an Irish setter named Clancy. Unfortunately, I don't remember anything of my time there ... we moved stateside a little shy of my 2nd birthday. I was a tow-headed little toddler when we left.
Dad, Mom, Mike, Scott and "Nana" have all passed on. I'm the only one left of our family who lived on Canton, although Mom was pregnant with my sister when we left.
Sis and I inherited picture albums, slides and home movies of the island years. Wish I had memories that weren't on celluloid.
