Hello again, I don't remember when we left canton, but it was in the 60's......worst thing ever to close the island huh???
I don't remember you, but probably hung out with you in some fashion during our infant years....if you left in '55, I was still there and 3 yrs old. My mom was Margo Rhoades, my dad was Earl Rhoades..I had brothers, Daniel, Matthew,Earl and Jimmy. We lived next to the Amerlings for a time, then next to Bobby Kasragas (this is spelled the way I remember the sound of the name)I had friends. Debbie Chang, Wilma Puna, Loretta Uehara, Andrew Fitzpatrick, and a few others I can't remember names this far. I am in my 50's now and still have the fond memories this place gave us. I have many many pictures;some of who I knew and some I have no idea who they are. My dad worked for the FAA/CAA, my mom was a stewardess for Qantas before my birth. I have heard from Andrew Fitzpatrick and Eine Amerling ( I have since lost their address when my computer crashed and have no way to get back in touch with them.)I heard from Loretta just this month and have emailed her, I hope to hear from her again. We were best friends on Canton, and I have so much to ask her. Just as everyone here seems to love the island, I hope to see it again before I pass on. I would live there again, give up everything and do it again, if I could. It was that great. You know I never thought the world was this small, when you have the internet. This was the last thing we would have thought of back then....
