Re: Re: Its difficult to know where to start

I know that it is along time since the original postings but I feel that, having just found the site, I have to comment on Magees reply to Lloyd. He has done exactly what Lloyd said in getting into a personal slagging match with no evidence, whereas Lloyd put up a good argument against the writing on the site.

In Magees very first sentence he says that "Christians are liars and obfuscators". Here Magee is clearly falling into the trap of reacting to what someone has said when it goes against his beliefs (faith, if you like). Magees faith is that everyone else is wrong and that he is right. He'll find out that others can also be right, even Christians.

I know a Christian who told me the football scores and he turned out to be right, despite my team winning for the first time in six matches. Now you are thinking that I am being flippant. Actually I am applying the same logic that Magee used when he stated that the billions of Christians around the world are liars. By your own logic they could not all be liars.

In any case God loves liars, he loves even more ex-liars.

The evidence is overwhelming for God's love, for the truth. I challenge anyone to honest debate about the truth.

(By truth I mean the dictionary definition; not some mumbo-jumbo definition that means everyone who doesn't agree with me is wrong).

God has worked in my life, he is active now despite Magee. Words from those who deny him do not change the fact that he exists and is active. The facts and the data should be considered, not assumptions that fit in with prejudices.

For example "Ministers of religion are paid for doing nothing useful". This is a lie that Magee has written after accusing others of lying. I am familiar with the Christian church in the UK where Ministers act as counsellors to those in pain, organise youth clubs, social events, events for the elderly, visiting hospital patients and the house-bound. Mr Lloyd has obviously hit a nerve as Magee just starts to rant: "no skills and no strengths, so they cannot do anything of practical value in the world. They therefore pretend they have a special knowledge or even a direct line to God and charge simple and undiscerning people for pleading individual cases before God".

Even humanists and aetheists have skills and strengths. To claim that when someone takes a particular job he loses all skills and strengths is just ridiculous and is the sort of statement that does Magee no service as it immediately turns off anyone looking for a rational argument. Any decent points in the following text will have to be ignored as Magee proves himself here to be an unreliable arguer or witness.

No-one is charged by a minister to connect them to God. It is a personal relationship with God not one through a third party.

That, indeed, is the point about Christianity. It is the bit that IS hard to believe when you live in a secular charge-for-everything society. There is no charge, there is no 3rd party to rely on. It is about you and God.

Mr Magee ought to get out more into this world, speak to people who relate to it and to other people. Speak to Christians, speak to me. Read the Bible, start with

a gospel, and pray for God to come into his life.

I'm sure you wouldn't be afraid of praying just in case it is true would you?

God Bless
