A night, a dog and the opera

A NIGHT, A DOG AND THE OPERA

it was some time ago when my friend gandhi, his wife and his boxer friend dr. bozzi - you know the dog with the kind behavior - arrived at a noble hotel somewhere in the german eifel mountains in a noble area. they intended to celebrate a first class new years eve with accompanying dinner superieure and an opera chanter from the next city. the guests were about to sit down in their best evening dresses when our little family came down entering the 'festival hall'.

"beg your pardon, sir, but the dog is not allowed to join the party". these words escaped from the mouth of the hotel manager.

"i can assure you, sir, that this dog wouldn't do to anybody harm. he will become completely invisible and certainly will not disturb the celebration". a little thinking pause of the manager, then: "alright, sir, when you can guarantee what you say we will make an exception this time" and so dr. bozzi proud like a majesty looked up for his place to become invisible. his choice fell on a little spot right under the pianoforte behind the golden shining pedals.

dinner got served, the wine made the guests become more and more relaxed as the pianist took his seat and a mighty bright opera tenor got into position near the keyboard.

silence.

the piano started with a tremolo, the vocalist took a deep breath and after the first lovely notes a loud snoring from behind the pedals filled up the musical excursion into the past. to make the story short: the snoring and the chanting or was it the chanting and the snoring, both ended up in an exciting finale not to forget that dr. bozzi must have eaten some rotten piece of meat hours before. his outgoing gases perfumed the location, especially the area of performance. pianist and tenor hardly managed to reach the end and after the first applause both hurried towards the next open window.

half an hour later at the bar: the soloists and the gandhi family alias j. wayne with the confidential looking hero of the night were drinking champaign together. dr. bozzi received the greatest applause of the evening and we all know that he had deserved it.
