As humans, we have an endless capacity for love. I am hoping to find it after 36 years of abuse. Perhaps get into some counseling for yourself.

In time love will come. More and more lately I've been finding out that no matter how badly we want something, it won't come until it's supposed to and we're ready for it. You can't force it to happen. Right now it sounds like you need to emotionally heal before you can be there emotionally for someone else.
