Our home was signed over to me during our divorce, but now that I'm trying to sell it, my ex seems to think if he doesn't sign the quit deed, she can take half the proceeds of the home. Is this true?
Depends. If your divorce decree stated that you get the house NO MATTER WHAT then you get the house. But if it states that he/she gets half of the equity of the house if it is sold then he/she is entitled to their half. It's all about wording when it comes to divorce, one stupid word can take on great meaning.
