Yes my soon to be ex had "emotional" affairs for years w various woman and after each one, he alays felt so guilty that he became "super" husband. That never lasted long and he was back to doing the same thing. Now that we are in the midst of getting a divorce, I have found out that he had sex w all of these women and he had lied to me for years about it.

yes - promises made but never kept. Mine is bi polar and I am the fourth wife he has done this to. He makes a change only until he decides to add more bills to what I already pay for then it goes back to the same old mental abuse

Oh Lord, there were SO many promises to change. That all lasted about 2 weeks, then right back to being a jerk. Cracks my a$$ up when he says something stupid to me like " I promise I won't...." AS soon as I hear I the word promise from his lips my mind shuts down and the conversation is over in my book.

Same here, promises unkept, ongoing lies, ends up always the same. Once abuse begins & they see we are still there, abusers usually are comfortable with status quo of said victim (continuing abuse). The only person that usually changes is the one that is wanting it.. In other words, ex never changed, & me, further in debt in every way.
You can change though, don't let that one out of your head! Stay close to God & listen to HIM.
