father petitioning for custody, child almost 18

hi,
i was hoping i could get some answers.
me and my husband have been divorced since our child was 1.5 years old. i, the mother, got the most custody. she goes to stay with her father every 1st, 3rd, and 5th weekend of the month that starts on a friday. our child is now almost 18 years old, will be turning 18 on december 23rd. the father is petitioning for custody of our daughter and we go to court tomorrow. he has an attorney, but i don't. i can't afford one. our daughter wants to stay living with me. will the judge talk to her tomorrow at court? she wants to talk and say her opinion

thanks

Unless I'm missing something in a month she is a legal adult anyway, right? Then she can do as she pleases? I'm confused as to why he would file NOW. I'll be anxious to see other replies to your post. Sorry I'm no help. Hugs.

Thats exactly how we feel. we went to court today and they scheduled for our daughter to talk to a social worker to say her wishes for a week from today. she'll be one week closer to being 18 so hopefully the judge will see that and just leave everything how it is right now. thanks for the reply anyway =)

Crazy! Seems like a waste of time and money for everyone. He's apparently making a point of some kind?
