girlfriend divorcing her husband

Hi all!

My girlfriend from Ohio is in the middle of a divorce. :disappointed_relieved:
(and just so you know, I met her when she already wanted to leave her husband.
She has been done for years but could not make work of it because she had sickness. Also, That husband wanted a divorce first.
We have been respectful towards the husband and had not had sex yet.)

So I just wanted to post this to ask a question about divorce.
She said she started the divorce a while ago. (like 6 months ago)

On top of that, they are waiting for bankruptcy to be completed first.

Today she said: "I have meeting with court about divorce today"

She doesn't really want to talk about it because it gives her a lot of stress she says.

So I looked it up online and it said that you don't need to go to court if both parties agreed to divorce. (which they do)

Then I was also reading that you might need to go to court but that it was only needed in the final step to finalize the divorce.

Maybe it's different in Ohio..

So the question I have is, when you divorce do you need to go to court a number of times?

Re: girlfriend divorcing her husband

I filed for divorce and my ex wanted to use my attorney, kids were grown, we agreed on an even split of everything. Yes, we both had to go to court to finalize.
I imagine if they are not agreeing on terms, they may go to court more than once.

Re: girlfriend divorcing her husband

Well they agreed on everything that's why I was a bit confused.
But she also has a bankruptcy going so maybe that complicates things.
