I have been contemplating divorce for a long time now after 26 years of marriage. I don’t care for him he’s selfish and controlling. He has a very good job and a good 401(k). I stayed home most of the time while the kids were growing up and worked part time as a nurse. He would limit the amount of money I could take out of the bank which was practically nothing, so I opened my own account. The money in the money market in our joint account was mine, in hindsight I should’ve taken that too but I didn’t. Anyway long story short when I have been short on cash he would never help and I had to use credit cards. I am now working a good job and attempting to pay off my credit card. My worry is that I wouldn’t be able to buy a home after this divorce. Any help is appreciated.
