Husband and I have been together for 20 years married for 6. I have had some mental health issues and was just coasting since 2020. I didn’t realize I was hurting him. Anyway, I found out he has had a girlfriend for a year. He tells me he was wrong and made a mistake and he wants to work on us. But he also needs time alone to be better for me. But he tells me he loves the girl and has to get over over. We are currently separated but I love him to death. I’m so lost.

Wendy, I will give you my opinion but you should really talk to a mental health therapist because they might have better insight. Have you heard the expression - Fool me once shame on you; Fool me twice shame on me? You’re husband broke a very important vow by cheating on you. And during a mental health crisis he wasn’t there for you. He sounds like he’s stalling and that’s only going to hurt you. You deserve better!
