As I am relatively new to your noticeboard I was sorry to read about Ray Walker whom I remember well as the King of A Sub (Thistle Mount his coverer). Many good memories of him and Henry Lees,King of B Sub (Ian Handscombe, coverer)and all the ratchetbait and chainhoisters that made up the crews over the years. If memory serves,Ray packed in after 15 years service to run a pub in Middlesburgh.I know Capt Dick Austin (previously his GPO when a Lieut)went to visit him.
Cheers from Ross
