Right, it's funny to me that so many parents think little joey will be accepted at a prep school just because they have the money and he plays hockey. Some parents have it in their heads I think where they want they kid to go school before he/she is even born. Doesn't always work out that way. White boys are last on the list these days as well.
This is true. Hockey academies do very little work. Which I think is somewhat good for the kids, instead of doing the traditional dumb work. They get to skate and workout while other kids are in school learning what y = 8x - 9. I think they should still learn those stupid math equations but not have them do it for 6 hours a day like traditional schools do. These players aren’t here to be carpenters or accountants they are pursuing to be professional or collegiate hockey players. That’s why all of the top teams in the country are academies or teams that all the kids go to public schools together and live with each other.
Your math equation is bunk… X could be anything because Y is undetermined in this example. This is another reason to not attend online school.
It's always good to have an alternative to prep. My problem is this. If you are paying 50 or 60k for a full season hockey academy then you should be playing 60 games a year agaisnt the best teams in the country. Think NAHA. They play a 70 game tier 1 schedule against the best teams in the country. Lovell has a problem as they dont/can't play in the NEGHL. If you aren't playing the Wizz,BJE, Spits, Breakers, Vipers etc then who are you playing? You can't play VJW 100 times. 60 grand should include playing in the 6 biggest tournaments in the country.
I see Lovell 14s played in the tier 1 bracket at Detroit this past weekend and had a respectable record of 2 -2. Losing 3-1 to LC and 1 zip to Pittsburgh is a good showing. Those are 2 of the best in the country. More of that is what they need.
Any private school is expensive these days.
This is only the first year of Lovell academy. From what I see on IG they are getting kids to go there and they are winning games.
60k is a lot of money to ME and I'm guessing other people feel the same based on comments but there are people out there with stupid money right now.
So same ranking one is 3500…. Other 60k.
Got it . Seems like good investment 👍🏻
Ranking up over the breakers isn't saying much...but BSB has been around since 1997. Being beat by a league that just started this year is pretty shameful.
Is it easy to find good teams to play against you when you're a new team? What league is lovell academy in?
what league are they in? It's their first year around...
Birdie told me two of their health bombs ended up at Lovell .
I think they are the future. They have had a good first year it’s been kinda chaotic because they are staying in hotels because the academy isn’t finished yet. 60k is ridiculous especially for online school…online school is free the town pays for it. Lovell does have the connections that most coaches do not have which is a good thing. But lovell/advantage coaches are kinda crazy. They have good skills i’ve heard but the coaches do not know how to coach.
Is it just online school?
I don’t know. Right now I know it’s online school because they’re staying in the hotel. And I know they’ve hired teachers but since the academy isn’t done yet they can’t teach their so i’m not sure. The academy was supposed to be finished at the end of last may beginning of june and I took my kid for a tournament there a couple weeks ago and the academy is not even close to being done and the rink will is open to skate but their bar and all the other fun activities aren’t done. I believe
Bar and Restaurant are done/open. Bowling alley looks done too.
I recently spoke to a Lovell parent. It is NOT online. They have real teachers (I don't know anything about the teachers or the curriculum). They're using spaces within the rink that are unused during weekdays.
I recently was chatting with a Lovell parent. He said they have real teachers (i.e. not online).
I think what people are forgetting in their answers is they are an academy. They don't need to play in a league. Guy above was correct. Look at NAHA. Half the price and 3 x the games. Games agaisnt top tier 1 competition across North America. That is what Lovell should be doing. If you are willing to attend a hockey academy you need to be willing to travel. Travel to the competition and top tournaments is the key if you want to play the best. Otherwise you sit home and play VJW and other **** clubs around NE and NY.
Perhaps Lovell is working on getting into more tournaments. It's their first year. Sheesh.
The Lovell girls are mainly 09’s. The top Wizards team is almost all 08’s. A year of Lovell development they will at the top of the U14’s by the time they are 08’s.
Lovell lost to u13 Warriors 2-1 today. The 2 most loved teams in Mass.
