Prep schools are a totem! False pride, plain and simple!
I think you mean token, because totem is the wrong word.

A totem is a spirit being, sacred object, or symbol that serves as an emblem of a group of people, such as a family, clan, lineage, or tribe.

It's been a while since I took the SAT's but I'm pretty sure he meant totem, and I must say I agree with him.

Re: Why can't we have the same High School Model as Minnesota?

To answer the original question . We will never have the same HS model because we do not have the same youth model. That is where Minn has it right. They have the right model from mite through HS and it shows. Just look at The U roster every year.

Re: Why can't we have the same High School Model as Minnesota?

For many years they had a set policy at the UM to only have one out of state kid on the roster every year. Imagine if just one Mass state school had a policy of having 50% of their roster made up of in-state (you know the families that $upport the school) kids???

If that shell of an organization Mass Hockey wanted to advance one meaningful thing, this would be it.
