Re: Arlington

My son played for Messuri here in Winchester years ago
Is he still running the same middle school scam?
$1000 per kid per year to play middle school hockey?
and then having his brother pretend to run the program to avoid any conflict issues?
Hey if you want varsity you need to pay to play in middle school right?LOL

Re: Arlington

Messuri skills are the best.

Gotta kind of agree. He seems to be pulling the right strings. He should probably win coac if the year.

Re: Arlington

No he doesn't get to take credit for the seniors playing for him now
They are a very talented group no matter who is coaching them
Any coach could win with the seniors he has now.

Coaches job is to win. The guy is winning. Does it really matter what Public School bender
he throws out on first line? People would compain if he wins or loses in Arlington. They are just mad
their son couldn't play at Belmont Hill. Let the poor guy enjoy the Super 8 and play his kid who will probably transfer.

Re: Arlington

Not even close. There are many more skills programs that you would be better off going to
Messuri has no individual instructions for players.
You run thru a series of drills and no one corrects your mistakes
Everyone just gets an "atta boy" as they pass by the instructor
This causes you to compound your mistakes
A good program will pull you aside and work with you to make sure are not repeating your mistakes.
it's the only way to improve

Re: Arlington

He's crazy, he's the ultimate strategist ;) but he's the best. He played with Gordie Howe's son. Enjoy the ride AHS.

Re: Arlington

The real question is with all of the turmoil he is creating on the team how will the team respond in the super 8?
Seems like a house divided and that's not good

Re: Arlington

Arlington people love him.

Re: Arlington

NOT!!!

Re: Arlington

Seriously?
Have you read any of the posts?
Are you in his family?
Or are you just heavily medicated?

Re: Arlington

If he loses it this year because his son was moved to the first line they will run his butt out of town. By the way he gave his kid # 93. What else do you need to know about the guy ? What coach allows his 5th line son to wear # 93 ?

Give the guy a break. He has his PUBLIC school team in the Super 8. Even if they forfeit he has done better than most. Who cares what number he gave his kid. You probably would have too but your son is probably the one not getting playing time. I am actually shocked Arlington is as good as they seem. Just goes to show the Catholics aren't what they were. Too bad. Now Iyou have to go to ISL games to see any talent.

Re: Arlington

Here it is in a nutshell
It is not about the team or the kids on the Arlington high school hockey team. It never has been
It is always been about Coach Messuri and his ego
That is why he plays his son when he shouldn't. That is why he put the all of the freshman from his penguins hockey on the varsity team even though they weren't ready.
That is why he can't keep coaches or players
Understand he doesn't care what you think. Or if you come or go.
Sorry but that's the reality in Arlington today.
I am just glad that I am almost out of this nightmare.
Graduation can't come soon enough

That may be true but he is a winning coach. Hes not there to be friends with you or your kid.
You didn't have to send your son there. How about AC?

Re: Arlington

Messuri has nothing to do with this team winning. Absolutely nothing. The team has 5-6 seniors who have been together for 10 years and they are all tremendous players. Messuri is trying to make this about moving his best players to wing so they can pressure Hinghams top player. he is full of crap. It is all about getting his son on the ice for the super 8 tournament. Ive been watching arlington hockey for 40 years and this is the worst promotion of an undeserving player that I have ever seen. Will be a tragedy if they dont win because # 93 should be on the JV team

Tremendous players? What college they headed to? This guy was a pro player. Took Winchester to a Championship and now Arlington to the Super 8. Who cares if his son is on the Ice. In 2 years he will probably at a Prep looking at a Hockey scholarship while these "tremendous " seniors are puking in some frat house still complaining how they should have been on first line. Typical clowns frok Arlington. If this coach was smart he should ho coach his kid in Prep School which he probably will.

Day school = $35k/yr . $10-$15k sounds about right

Re: Arlington

I just read your message. It is clear that you never attend a prep school. I would guess based on your grammar and spelling that you probably didn't finish high school.
I'd like to leave you with this parting thought. The Arlington players your putting down today will be the ones your working for in 5 years. That is if they decide to go into the waste management field.

Not a chance. I don't even know the man but know too many clowns from Arlington.
I was lucky enough my boys played for SSK then Rivers. People didn't complain about ice time.
If you aren't happy then go elsewhere. At Public school you don't even have a penny invested.
The fact is this guy took Winchester and made them a contender and now Arllington. He will probably leave
and you can all go back to sucking.

Look at the rosters of the Ehl, usphl, prep schools and div 3. Plenty of kids went through public's initially before making the jump.

Every prep outside of ISL has pgs rostered

4 yrs of public high school = free. 1 year pg@ discount. 1 yr juniors $7-$10k. Or 4 yrs of prep, even at a discount is alot more money!

More importantly not everybody comes from money! What's wrong with a kid fighting the fight until the bitter end. Too bad hockey is becoming an elitist sport like lax.

Lets just sit back and watch how #93 performs tomorrow. First line Super 8 ? As a freshman ? Really Messuri ? best for the team ? Should be worth the price of admission! And yes I agree messuri has very little to do with this teams success. Those seniors have all been playing together for 10 years and the assistant coach CO really deserves most of the credit. Why is he rushing his kid? Is he trying to showcase him? Doesn't make any sense to rush his kid and put him in such a difficult situation.

As for those booing the kid; Really!! Your team is winning and is really his fault that his dad has played this badly? Let the kid be a kid and enjoy the Super 8.

Re: Arlington

Watched the game this past Sunday. Coaches kid did fine. He certainly can play on the first line as well if not better than any other player.

Re: Arlington

I think a couple points here were covered in "The Rules" and we all need to revisit them. When in doubt parents, grab the rules for a refresher course.

- If your coach has a kid on your team, don't believe he's coaching for any other reason but HIS kid.

and . . .

- If your coach has a kid on your team accept the simple fact that his kid will play more minutes than any other player on the team regardless of ability. Know this day one, it will save you and the other parents any hard feelings.

and. . . .

- Don't believe politics end at the high school level. They get worse.

and . . .

- Parents, once you have done your homework and made your choice, hand him over and accept your role. You are a wallet, a taxi, a cheerleader, and a keeper of the gear.

and . . .

- Hockey numbers are 1 through 30, given the choice let’s keep it that way. No need to honor Grandpa’s 89 football number…really.

A couple of points that you clearly don't understand
There are things called "topics". This one happens to be about Arlington.
That mean we discuss "Arlington"
If you want to speak about something else you call start a new topic.
Secondly I did read the thread and I didn't see any "big words"

I know it will probably take you awhile and you will have to skip a lot of big words but read the thread. It is a discussion board ya know. Not just a place to come vent because your bender kid is a chip off the ole block.

Spoken like a true wanna be. Never made a team did ya?
A couple of points that you clearly don't understand
There are things called "topics". This one happens to be about Arlington.
That mean we discuss "Arlington"
If you want to speak about something else you call start a new topic.
Secondly I did read the thread and I didn't see any "big words"

The bender doesn't fall from the bender tree.

Neither went Pro. Pretty sure these seniors at Arlington are seeing their last ice unlike my boys. They ought to thank this guy for the memories.

I have not seen them play yet but sure those Sr's will have a chance to pg or play jrs. From there, I am sure div 3 is very possible. Likely will be teammates with a few former prep school players. No matter the route you take! [/quot

Not a chance

Have to agree. Not much hockey after Public school Div 1. Its watered down and SLOW

Two of these five played public. Things are definitely watered down these days but this is not the end of hockey for many of these kids if they are willing to put in the work!!

Brendan Collier (NU), Derek Petti (MC), Chris LeBlanc (MC), Liam Coughlin (V), Brian Pinho (PC) goals tonight ... all played MIAA as seniors

One played Public and D2 at that. Kid blossomed after high school in the summer.

Wrong, cost $750 to play hockey at Arlington High. There is a fee for other sports as well but not as much

There was no 7th or 8th Grade middle school teams this year in Arlington. There was a 6 th Grade team but it had nothing to do with the Messuri's.

Hingham's defense takes tons of shots from the blue line on the break that are essentially just playing catch with the goalie. The shot stats are wildly misleading.

Ummmm isn't that what you want to do to create chances and tips or rebounds? What exactly is Arlingtons strategy? Take fewer shots on net?

Ummm, not when the rest of your team is behind the blue line. Fewer shots and more real scoring chances is much preferable to what is essentially just a dump that pumps up goalie's stats.

Then Arlington is outcoaching Hingham and Hinghams defenseman are carrying the puck all the way through the neutral zone while Arlingtons seniors allow this and take a defensive zone faceoff? Im confused. Either way Arlingtons seniors are being outplayed.

And they're winning so what's your point? Have you watched Hingham? Their D carry far too much, skate to blue line and fire puck at net before any of their forwards can get to net for rebounds or deflections. If that's Arlington's "strategy", its brilliant. Half of the Arlington goalie's "saves" are just catching the fastballs that Hingham's D fires at him. So point is, that looking at shot "stats" is misleading. When most of your shots are just long tosses into the goalie's glove, don't whine about how you're losing to a team that has half as many shots.

No dog in the fight here. My point was Arlington must be out coaching the Hingham team but if a D man doesn't have an outlet carrying the puck to the blue line and firing high on net to get an Offensive zone faceoff is sound hockey especially at high school level.

Re: Arlington

Giving up possession for a 50/50 chance to win face-off? Mass high school hockey at its best.

This shows this guy never played hockey. The goal is an offensive zone faceoff. Draw it to the point and go to net.

Re: Arlington

Not when you have the puck under control. Of course if dont have the skill to keep it, by all means dump it on net.

Re: Arlington

I guess if you stumbled across this thread and were none the wiser, you'd think Arlington was 0-20 this year.

I'm sorry but what I read was a high school hockey coach was charging middle school players $1000 a head to play
That is a violation of the miaa rules
I don't care if he wins it all
That is outrageous

Re: Arlington

I'm not sure which game you were watching but Arlington's first two goals were garbage goals off of loose pucks in the slot and their third was a screened goalie from the point. It's not like there was some great game strategy executed.

Garbage goals off of scrambles in front of the net only points to the fact that the Hingham defensemen do not control the space in front of their goalie. And in watching them play sunday I can't imagine Hingham is under any illusions that this current defensive corp is as dominant defensively as they had a couple years ago. They appear smaller and less interested in the dirty work in front of the net.
