No idea what you are talking about. NCAA has already blessed tier 1 and teir 2 model. Everything that is paid or provided is for reasonable expenses to play. Even NCAA players (most) now get a stipend above sholarship money for cost of attendance (travel to/from school etc) so payments are allowed if they are approved payments. USHL/NAHL are lifeblood of NCAA so they are going to approve what those leagues spend on players. They will never approve of what OHL spends on players. It's a turf war and the lines are drawn.
They have no need for it. That's why the General's team was put here. I can see USAH pushing into New England thru NAHL but it will be tough with all expansion teams. What they could do at some point is invite 2 or 3 of the top NCDC programs into the NAHL but that will be on USAH's timing. Right now there seems to be no pressing need.
Generals were terrible but were NAHL T2 NCAA compliant so what sanctions are you talking about?
Wow, that statement sounds like a Cap A blast from the past
Everyone's an internet lawyer. Guess there are a long list of lawsuits about to happen cause this issue, the strucutre of the leage, and the compliance with USAH/NCAA has been discussed in many online blogs, hockey rags, league meetings etc.
Won't see anything until it happens. League hasn't started yet. When players start going through the clearninghouse you'll begin to learn the NCAA's stance on the structure.
It's funny for all the back and forth about whether or not this league had a chance to be succesful or not, it never dawned on me that there could be issues with College eligibility. If there is an issue, that will be crushing!!
The amateurism requirements are easy to find but sufficiently vague so the NCAA can interpret how they wish. If the new league wants any chance to succeed it should mirror to a T, the NAHL program in terms of what players recieve (equipment/sticks/meals etc.).
Having said that, there are also a number of local kids committed to hockey east and ECAC schools who were drafted by NCDC clubs this year with the intent of playing some number of games before/after prep season. Can't imagine any will suit up if their advisors and NCAA coaches don't give them the OK.
Daaaammmmmmmmm!!!!! He just went all legal on you.
I don't think anyone here has a problem with theories, conjecture or opinions or anything else as it pertains to a league. The problem around here seems to be the limited tolerance for picking on kids, slandering individuals or posting childish and crud things... debate away!
