Re: USPHL - ' Defensemen of the year '

Great academic school? Please.
So, let which player on Trinity turned down a D1 offer?
The "Best Defenseman" in EHL won't be going D3 and they at least don't claim to be anything they are not. USA Hockey even recognizes them.

Also, is it free if you are paying registration, insurance fees, camp fees, and now huge transfer fees if you choose to leave?
That doesn't seem free.

1. I say Great! Some say good. US News says #38 in Liberal Arts schools which all told means top 75- top 100. I guess that would make it top 2-3% of all colleges. Nothing to sneeze at.

2. You do realize every year there are many, many D1 players transferring out to D3? Many of the top D3 players realized that they were on the fence/borderline D1 and made the best decision for them. Call it a smart , preemptive choice.

3. USA does not believe in the NCDC's Business model and therefore turned them down. Their prerogative, perspective and agenda. The NCDC did not agree and chose to go in a different direction. How will this turn out? We will have to wait and see.

4. USHL is Tier 1 and completely free ( as far as I know). NAHL ( Tier 2)and like Canadian leagues are mostly free. From the sounds of it the NCDC is mostly free as well. To what degree, I don't know. Huge Transfer Fee? Not sure, as I have not seen anything regarding that. It is a free market. I suppose they have the right to do that.

Your have a hair across your a** with this league! You seem angry and wounded. Perhaps you have every right to be, I don't know. I do know that your reasoning seems really skewed and personal

1). Honestly, haven't given Trinity hockey that much thought. Noone has. Decent school. Certainly not Ivy League.
2). I do realize many D1 players transfer to D3 because they aren't on scholarship nor are they playing. Its called quitting.
3). Why didn't USA Hockey like its business model? Do you know of any other Junior League or Youth it has rendered this decision on?
4). NAHL doesn't charge these fees. They are true Tier2.

This is a discussion board. I believe the USPHL is trying to get tier 2 talent to play here. That will water down true Tier 2 here and in Canada. They are trying to be something they are not.

The OP had started the thread on the idea that Trinity is junk. That is absolutely crazy talk! Program is strong as is academics!

Transferring out of a bad situation is quitting? I am all for pushing through but to call it quitting is harsh and more so innacurate.

No other Jr program has attempted to go Tier 2. As far as USA hockey is concerned, the USPHL would not be viable without a gate. Taxing the lower teams is a no, no considering USA hockey already does this. I honestly do not agree or disagree on this point, as I do not have enough info. However, your comments are wrong.

NAHL makes its money from it's gate, Team and league combines and tryouts ( which can be costly especially for someone traveling there). The Canadian teams charge nominal registration fees similar to NCDC. Nobody said NCDC is Tier 2 but as it is mostly free, it ain't 3. Time will tell what it is. You and I don't know. Difference is I am hopeful and rooting for it to succeed and you ... Not so much..

I couldn't care less about Trinity College hockey nor can anyone else except the families of the bums that play there. I will give you that its a decent liberal arts school.

So the only league USA hockey felt unworthy of being sanctioned is this new NCDC league. Same league as it has been under 3 different names. If they were charging $40 per player thats a realistic tax, thousands is ridiculous.
What comments are wrong?

I truly hope it fails as it will. I was a fan of it as Tier 3 pay to play league till it tried to be something it's not.

Do you really think D3 hockey is for bums? Really?

Trinity has been in two of the last three National Championship games.

Do you realize the USNTDP U18 team beat UMaine last spring and then lost handily to U of New England (D3) a good team but not quite as good as Trinity. Hockey Easy & D3.

You do realize there is not a lot separating the majority of D1 players from D3 players. Sorry to burst your bubble Mr Little Hands!

USA hockey did not like the projected Cash Flow and taxing of lower teams. They do have their own agenda which may or may not be beneficial to the development of players. Don't be too naive, Monsieur, petites mains.

Try to be something it's not? WTF does that mean? What are you? F

I must have missed the D3 National Championship. I guesss U of New England is better than UMaine. You have taught me something. I guess USA Hockey felt threatened by NCDC. Am I missing any of your points?

Your attitude will change once reality sets in and your kid is playing at Becker, getting scratched every night

Not a chance. At least Becker isnt on probation like Trinity. Classy team right there. D3 runners up. Next year on probation for violations. Maybe thats why the "Best Defenseman " committed there.

Re: USPHL - ' Defensemen of the year '

On probation....sounds serious -

"Regardless of who the perpetrators were, the entire team is bearing the brunt of the punishment. From now until the end of the 2017-2018 school year, the hockey team is forbidden from hosting or sponsoring any social event anywhere, whether formal or informal. That said, the team will still be able to compete in the 2017-2018 season, but that will also be called into question if there are any more transgressions that violate the College’s rules on proper conduct."

No more team parties because they made the sensitivity police angry...BFD.

Or they don't know how to handle their liquor. D1 players have no problems getting girls.

I wouldn't send my kid here. Next step is no hockey competition. Coach has no control.
