NCDC vs NAHL
Biggest difference. INTENSITY. NCDC games played at a painfully slow pace. No intensity. If you want to nap and can’t fall asleep, watch an NCDC game. Gliding is BORING. NCDC players rarely do anything but glide. Players look more like they’re trying to conserve energy than trying to compete. NAHL games are played at a more intense and faster pace. Fun to watch.
Next biggest difference. PASSING. Most NCDC teams cannot effectively pass the puck at game speed. Most cannot reliably execute a plain vanilla break out play. How do so many players that cant pass the puck get picked by these NCDC teams? Is JR hockey that watered down? NAHL players can pass the puck, and team passing is far superior to that of the NCDC.
Third biggest difference. TEAM PLAY. Team play in NCDC game is very much like in a pick up game. If it happens, it happens by accident. An NCDC game is five skaters playing five different individual games. To the extent those players interact, it appears completely ad hoc. NAHL teams execute plays. And the NAHL's teams' plays - the entire game.
NAHL looks like two TEAMS competing. NCDC looks like two groups of five INDIVIDUALS with different jerseys.
Fourth biggest difference. HOCKEY SENSE. NCDC players look lost on the ice, as if they don't understand the game or whats going on around them on the ice. NAHL players look like they know the game.
NCDC is a WANNABE lacking intensity, skill, depth and much more.
Not easy to get DI commits. We agree on that. Some leagues are better at getting players DI commits than others. We agree on that too. We can also agree that leagues more successful at getting DI commits than the NCDC. NCDC just not the place to get a DI commit.
I had a D1 college coach tell me yesterday that in his mind, the difference in the leagues is that the NAHL has NO good young players while the NCDC has a LOT, but the NCDC has no good older players while the NAHL has some.
Then he followed it up by saying they really don't care what league you play in if you are producing.
Unfortunately for the NCDC, video doesn't lie. If you're not intense, its on the video, if you cant pass, its on video, and so on.
I agree with point that NCDC should limit overage players to improve the product. Basically If you don't have skills at 19 or 20, its not happening in the remaining months of the season. Let the younger ones have a chance.
NCDC is average, at best, Tier III hockey.

Average at best? Name a better Tier 3 League? EHL is likely the closest and certainly a good league, but the majority of the better teams left and after upgrading with talent, are either at the bottom of the NCDC or in the USPHL Premiere ( 2nd division).
Enough of the slanted hyperbole. NCDC may or may not be on par with NAHL now or ever but enough of the NCDC Sux!! We get it!
NA3HL, as a whole, is a better tier 3 league that both EHL and USPHL. Local teams in those leagues are average at best. NE Stars would dominate.
What is it with these people and Tier 2 Tier 3? Who cares what tier it is. USHL is the Gold standard, now more than ever. NAHL, BCHL and a handful of other Canadian leagues are next. The USPHL top league was next before it became free. Now they have taken in a few EHL teams and the top division is free and now even better. Likely the NCDC will continue improving on prior years products. Seems like common sense. Where does it go from there? Will have to wait in see. My guess is the top 4 or 5 teams could easily compete in any league outside of USHL, will continue up, while most other teams will draft behind and slowly rise. In a few years should be pretty good / comparable to a Tier 2 League.
Most every D1 team in the northeast has a few former USPHL players on their rosters. Outside of a 6'8" third goalie the NA3HL has zero. That is 0.001. To say that NA3HL is better than USPHL /NCDC is comical and likely just coming from NCDC SUX 2.0 pot stirrer guy.
Call it EJHL. Call it USPHL Premier. Call it NCDC. Whatever letters you give it, it's third-tier hockey. The EHL was ranked higher the last two years than the USPHL Premier, so don't even think of saying the NCDC is Tier II.
Go to an NCDC game and go to an NAHL game. The NAHL knows how to make their games real events. They make it special for the players. The USPHLNCHDDSJC or whatever is like a mite game, only with less people in the stands.
